The 1st International Neuroscience Congress organized by the Institute of Neuroscience and Biomedical Research (INBR) was in July 2006, following the epoch-making SONA 2003 Conference, which held in Abuja. INBR 2006 was very successful and attracted many participants from Nigeria, other parts of Africa, and outside Africa. It was very remarkable that majority voted for a follow-up conference in 2008. It brought together people from different cultural, academic and research backgrounds. Collaboration was established and there was general awareness, great networking and mentoring. Many local scientists had the opportunity to visit the laboratories of foreign participants thereafter.
The 2008 INBR Congress was a great improvement over 2006 and it is hoped that 2010 will be a turning point for many scientists from within and outside Nigeria, in terms of great awareness of the real value of Africa in increasing the scientific, cultural and social content of the world. Increasing interest would be devoted to the young ones in making them think science in general and neuroscience in particular, as a career. The first champion of the International Brain Bee (IBB) Quiz contest will be concluded by then.
The INBR 2010 Congress will be a very important congress that will boost scientific research in Africa in particular and other parts of the world in general. So don't miss INBR 2010 Abuja, Nigeria.
